I'm Fat

Sound harsh? Well, maybe it is, but maybe that's what I need. I've gained about 20lbs. since I was burned in April of '06. I spent much of 2006 and 2007 sitting or laying with my foot elevated dealing with the injury.....waiting for the healing. The doctors told me to keep eating because my body needed the vitamins and nutrients to heal itself. I forget a lot of stuff, but I clearly remembered those words from the doctor and reminded Janay often. The healing finally arrived in December of '07.....the weight arrived before that. 2008 was a year of celebration....celebrating the healing of my leg and having those days behind us. 2008 brought us two cruises......with them came lots of great memories and.....some more pounds. 2009 is here and it's time to get serious. I passed on the typical January 1st resolution. I've never been a believer in them. I had my eye on February.

Last fall before our cruise my mom told me about a diet a coworker told her about, the 3 Day Cardiac Diet. I tried the diet, and it worked as promised, but I didn't stick with it. I decided to stick with it through all of February and see what kind of results I could get. I thought photos of the scale showing my weight on weigh-in day would be a good way to track my weight. Then I thought about blogging about it telling my friends and family to hold me accountable, but I chickened out, most likely from fear of failure. The photos below tell the story. I suppose you've figured out by now the diet was successful for me or you wouldn't be reading this. I'm down sixteen pounds through diet only. My original plan was to get some weight off first, then incorporate some exercise in. I'm anxious to see what the scales say at the end of March.

Ok, so now you have to share this awesome diet with the rest of us that are trying to shed a "few" pounds.

Congrats on the weight loss!!

Debbie,

There is a link to the exact diet I follow in text above. You should be able to click where it reads "3 Day Cardiac Diet" to see it.

Matt, I saw on day 2 dinner that you eat beef franks, is this with or without the buns?

And on day 1 breakfast, does it have to be grapefruit juice or is another variety okay?

Thanks

Kelli - The beef franks are to be eaten without the buns. The way I understand this diet works is, you have to eat the exact foods listed and the chemical breakdown of those foods is part of the reason it works. With that said, I would say you have to drink grapefruit juice. I drink the Ruby Red juice as it is not bitter like regular grapefruit juice is.

Great :( I guess I can stomach the grapefruit juice if it means I can lose some weight though. My exercising sure isn't doing anything. Plus, I don't mind eating without the buns I just wasn't sure whether you could or not. It's kind of a strange mix of foods.

One more question though...did you spend the whole day feeling hungry? Because it sure doesn't seem like much food.

I don't notice being hungry doing the diet this time as much as I did when I tried it last fall, but a lot of it has to do with your state of mind. I want to lose weight now. You get a lot of food at dinner. I'm hungry and ready to eat at each meal time, which is the way it should be. It's only three days, then you can eat what you want for the next four days as long as you are sensible about it. I do the diet Monday thru Wednesday. It will work if you stick to it. Start modifying it and adding/removing stuff and you won't get the results.
